Sales blowout heavy truck market pattern change


Since the beginning of this year, sales in the domestic heavy-duty truck market have been hot, sweeping down the slump since the second half of 2008, coupled with a low base year-on-year, many companies have seen 100% growth. While ushering in a rare spurt of growth, many “young forces” have thrived and the more stable competition landscape in recent years will also face new changes.

In 2009, the national sales volume of heavy trucks was 630,000, an increase of 17% year-on-year. In 2010, the heavy-duty truck industry made a sudden effort to achieve higher-than-expected growth. As the growth rate is as high as 100% or even 200%, sales of JAC Geerfa and other companies from January to May have already approached the total sales last year.

According to Zhao Houzhu, general manager of JAC Commercial Vehicles, currently, the business performance of JAC heavy truck business has continued to improve, and market recognition and brand influence have greatly improved; the initial construction of a new 100,000-heavy truck base has been used. Market sales have provided protection. Since the beginning of this year, JAC Gehlfass has been working overtime to ensure production capacity.

The pulling action of the country’s 4 trillion investment has clearly manifested this year, which has a clear leading role in the sales of engineering dump trucks in heavy trucks. At the same time, the macroeconomic situation at home and abroad is stable, and the road freight market is gradually recovering. The demand for logistics vehicles is also growing.

Based on factors such as the rapid growth of domestic fixed investment and the still-increasing logistics demand, most people in the industry are optimistic about the long-term growth of China's heavy-duty trucks, and believe that maintaining the growth rate of 10% to 15% is not a big problem. Some industry analysts will even increase their growth forecast for the heavy truck industry this year from about 15% previously to 30%.

This optimistic outlook makes many heavy-duty truck companies prepare for confidence and speed up product development and technological improvements. After accumulating a few years ago, Jianghuai Geerfa began to exert its force this year, breaking the million mark in the first five months of this year. At present, Gehlfa heavy truck has more than 700 service stations and more than 380 spare parts supply points, with service capabilities covering all parts of the country.

In addition to JAC Gehlfa, SAIC Iveco Hongyan, GAC Hino, Changan Heavy Duty Truck and other large-scale heavy truck companies that had not developed smoothly in the past are now also planning to plan for greater development under the strong support of the Group.

The position of the first group of heavy truck leading enterprises is still difficult to shake in the short term, but with the addition of the second and third legions and some new heavy trucks, it will bring new challenges to the relatively stable competition pattern of heavy trucks in recent years.
